This is a fanart of the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games mascots, Lyo and Merly. Just in case, Merly is wearing a bikini. ;)

[EDIT 05/02/2011] I decided to give it a remake because I loved this picture but I'm not satisfied with how it was rendered. In this new version I tried to enhanced the volume of the character and deepen the dimension, to give the picture a more dynamic coloring.

[EDIT 05/03/2011] The new version was at first submitted as a normal picture , but DA won't allowing me to change file type into a ZIP wallpaper pack anymore, so I reverted to the old address. Sorry if you commented or faved the newer one!

This piece is fun to watch, it's very colourful and has a happy atmosphere, though the posing, placement and colours are not that original. The style is catchy, really sees who has drawn this, that's where the originality points come from. Of course the original character designs force to choose a bit, pardon me, dull colours so that can be partially forgiven.
Even though the colours are not the most exciting, I think they fit this piece rather well and help boosting up the mood. They also remind me of summer as do the outfits of the characters.
The male characters posing is quite playful and he seems to be inviting the viewer to play games and sports. I'd like to think that the female character is supposed to do the same, but the bit "sexier" pose and nipple/panty-shot (yes I can see she's wearing a bikini, but anyhow) make her look, well, more seductive.
After all, both the characters are really cute and I think your style makes them even cuter and fits really well in this kind of works. I really like the way you colour, even if it looks like that the male characters colouring is slightly rougher than the female's.
All in all I think you did good job, but I know and everyone knows when they check the rest of your galerry, that you can do better and that you have more original pieces too.
I hope that my critique wasn't too harsh or long.

Holy Cow! Yet again you have blown my mind. As you know, I have been watching your deviations for some time and I have become a huge fan of your style. I have even tried making a couple of my own designs in a similar style to pay a tribute to your awesomeness! However, they all failed miserably to even slightly be a decent homage to your glory, so I had to scratch them. Anyway, this is by far one of my favorites! The way you intricately blended the contrasting blue and orange is mind boggling. I can't even imagine how many layers this must have took to put together so magnificently! Once again congrats on being one the most unique, original, and devilishly talented artists I have seen on this site!
