CHARACTER DESIGN ARTWORK
SYNC characters are mostly robotic androids based on anthropomorphic animals.
All contents showed in this picture and its description may be changed in future development.

NAME: Cloud White
SPECIES: Arctic Fox
COLOR: White / Blue
JOB: Traveler / Earth Environment Investigator

Cloud is a robotic fox whose body is made of programmable material called "Mithrill", which enables him to change his shape and color according to his will. This picture shows his default mode "porcelain fox", in which he borrowed the design concept from some blue and white China porcelain. I used a photo from a material library as the reference when drawing the pattern on the background.

You may see how he plays with his body here.

This is a full revised version of his old picture. fav.me/d2qkkxb

I love the movement you created as well as the balance in your work. Having the symbol and circle take up the top right and having the horizontal lines at a slight angle help guide the eye down toward your focal point. To add to that, the sword and the symbol compliment each other in both their thickness and direction (which also guides the eye to the character). As for the character itself - You display excellent use of dimension and lighting. Three major points of interest are the sword handle, the arm plates and the tail. I love that plated look you gave by having the exterior filled with vibrant, glowing white and the edges and interior with differing values in blue.

All together, this piece is very unified, simple, and exercises a great amount of detail. The only thing I got hung up on was the transition in your background gradient from black to white at the base. Personally, it feels like the grays around the character's shins lack the vibrancy that the rest of your work displays. I understand that it helps the reflective quality as well as define the ground. The only thing I could think of trying would be to exchange the black to white with a blue hued black to the mid-tone blue you present in the middle of the symbol with the same reflection of the character.

Even with my opinion on the gradient, the entire work shines and shows some grade A technique and work. I only mention the gradient just because it caught my eye for a fleeting moment. I think you did a great job!

Now I'm the type of person who is always effected by two things the most: color and spacial balance.

Speaking about color, your contrast is perfect. The foreground does not merge into the background, and keeps the picture's impact strong. Plus, your color scheme is consistant and demostrates your control.

Now, the balance is nicely placed. No part seems to imbalance the picture so I'm not fussing. In fact, I think I could learn something from your placing of balance.

Though, one thing I must say, some of your detail lines, and as cool as the rest of the picture is, are way too thin to really notice... that's the only thing that bugs me.

Overall, I have to say: Good work.

Apparently a Katana. But I just gave him a sword as an object to hold in this picture. This is not his official weapon, if there is any at all.
