The Krita Mascot by TysonTan The Krita Mascot by TysonTan
Edit 2013-01-02: Clean up, reworked outline, a few modification on the clothes, description update.

The mascot character I designed for Krita the free and open source digital painting application. This character is a squirrel android, the choice of her species was inspired by Krita's community discussion. I haven't named her yet, but feel like to name her "Krystine".

Around May 2012 I left Microsoft Windows and other proprietary software altogether and went GNU/Linux. Since then Krita has been my main primary drawing program. It has an innovative user interactive design and a powerful natural brush system. If you are a GNU/Linux user, Krita should be available from your software center. There is also an experimental build for Windows users. Check out Krita's website [link] to find out how to get it.

:icondeevad: David has made many tutorials and resources for Krita, available on his website [link] . If you are new to Krita, make sure to visit his place for some useful tips and brushes!

Software used:
Ubuntu [link] An operating system based on GNU [link] / Linux [link] .
Krita [link] Drawing and coloring.
GIMP [link] Typography.
All software I used are free and open sourced. I appreciate all the efforts from their communities.

I don't know Firealpaca, so I'm not in the position to compare them.

Okay, I was just asking because I would like to give this program I try,  has it got a good pen pressure and a powerful blending tool?

Krita has great pressure support under GNU/Linux, but probably not yet under Windows. I suppose Krita 2.8 beta  is doing a better job. I don't really use blending tool often, but consider Krita is a digital painting tool that emphasize real life tool imitation, I guess it has the relevant function. You can find those tools as brushes.

Yeah, one of my reasons to give up Windows was I want to use Krita and it didn't work well under Windows. Krita 2.8 has a lot of improvement on Windows, but it seems there is much to do.
