I actually liked the way they reply so promptly even though the answer was no. But well, it seems my impulsive fan-comic ends here! It's too bad we are living in a PERMISSION CULTURE. Now I have a clearer picture of the issues that Lawrence Lessig's "Free Culture [link] " was talking about.

I will focus my energy on making my original projects, but expect to see some MLPFIM fanarts from time to time. Regardless of being officially made into a Alicorn princess, my Twilight Sparkle will always be the same Unicorn girl living in Ponyville, together with her best friends. Friendship is still Magic! We are still on a good ending route! ^^

Being a fan of MLPFIM, though not really hardcore, I liked this cartoon enough to draw some fanarts.

After watching the final episode of Season 3, "Magical Mystery Cure", I would like to say that I have my own thought. 3 days later I wrote a story sketch for an alternative ending, constructed it into a shooting script, and fit those shots into B5 paper. The result is a 90 pages comic project. Anyone who know me well should expect this possible comic be release freely online if I can finish it.

However, the fate of a certain fan-made MLPFIM game scared me, making me to consider alternative names and appearances for the characters. Drawing 90 pages of full color comic is a enormous amount of work, not to mention that Princess Celestia's glorious gradient mane has a major cost impact XD. My friend totem.v suggested me to give up the silly idea and focus on my own stuff. But that's the story I really want to tell, and I don't see a place in my own projects where this story can ever fit. Now I'm undergoing total inner conflict. -_-

Any thoughts, my friends?

Being the result of my family's not cerebrating birthday for their children rule, I totally forgot my birthday yet again. Only when I read your birthday greetings did I realize it's my birthday today XD. Thank you very much for caring to leave me all the greetings. I appreciate them!

However, last night I couldn't sleep very well because my air conditioner was acting funny, with my stupid father's nagging yet again about finding a girl friend again, blind to see my need to concentrate on studying and drawing. And all kind of stupid thing is happening to me this morning like stupid road sprinklers, crazy police officers, broken air conditioner at my office (too)! My birthday is just perfect XD.

I have been working on my project SYNC for a long while. It has been revised for several times. To ensure I can do things better, I started to study writing and other crucial stuff a few weeks ago. I'm not done yet, but all the theories I've learned so far has already given me a much clearer vision of the structure. I hope I can publish it as half design works collection and half story board someday.

I decide to post my design sketches alongside with other pictures on tumblr, because I like the freedom of customizing stuff there. I've changed my DA user name from "extvia" to "TysonTan" which is the English version of real Chinese name. I have been considering this for a long while because the former name, despite the uniqueness, is hard to read and remember. What's more, it sounds like a GIRL's name while I'm actually a GUY. I'm not girlish guy so I think I should take the chance and fix my mistake. XD

The timing of changing my name also coincided with my migration from Windows to GNU/Linux. It's a risky move. I have to start from scratch, but it's fresh and fun. The main reason that I go GNU/Linux is that my future work is going to focus on the topic of "freedom", and I think it's important for me the writer himself to experience all these difficulties and the feeling of losing one's former identity.

Some of you may also noticed that I had disappeared for almost half an year before starting to post things again. I had experienced various hard times during these days. Like having a traditional blind date before engagement which many Chinese families still force / persuade their young people to do nowadays (and of course it didn't end well). Losing my grandfather in a sudden. Searching for the purpose of my life. etc. I read a lot of books in these days. All of these probably changed me within dramatically.

So much for the depressing story! Thanks for reading my journal and hope you will still enjoy my future works!

At the moment I'm preparing for my Japanese Level Test which is coming at 4th December. I'm learning Japanese from scratch now because I learned it from anime and games and I feel it kind of shaky. There are 3000 pages of textbooks and practices to cover. As a result, I may not be active around before finishing the test.

P.S. Too bad that Sonic Generations and Skyrim are coming out in November when I don't have time to play them -_-|||

I put up my last journal to ask what I've done wrong in my recent picures, and I received many replies. They are all very informative and helpful. I can't reply them all but I read them all and write down all the important points you guys told me. Thank you very much!

Still I'm still struggling the true reason of why some of my recent works that I thought they were better end up having much less favs and comments than before, while those I didn't think they would work actually attracted much more attention. (excluding fanart factor)

My ordinary life is boring and stressing, working in an organization where cute things is useless and all people cares here is to play safe and to be promoted. Drawing and sharing my art on the web is my only way to free and enjoy. I treasure my viewers very much and don't want to disappoint them. I will try to work it out but at the moment I guess I'm kind of lost in direction. -_-b

I put a lot of effort in this picture, using a more detailed coloring style which is different from my previous works. However it turned out to be much less enjoyable to many of my watchers. This is not the fist time when I try doing something very hard but the result turned out to be much worse than I expected. I couldn't figure out why. So Instead of more pointless try-and-error, I think I should ask for your help to tell me what had gone wrong in this picture and what can I do to make my future work more enjoyable.

Would you please help me to find out? I doesn't have to be professional, just what you think in your mind. Thank you in advance!

I've been busy but never stop drawing these sketches when I have time. Though I don't know when can I finish them, so I think I should just leave a "family portrait" here so you can have the first bite of the variety of SYNC characters. Maybe there are your favorite species, if not, you may suggest one so I can consider to include them. ^^

From now on, most of my work will be released under the Creative Commons 3.0 by-nc-nd license [link] . The reason I change to No-Derivative Works is simple: After something happened (you may check my old journal post, I don't suggest you to do so, though), I'm sure I don't like my work to be chopped into pieces and montage as derivative work. Sorry!

It happened when I discovered RoksanaTH used Napkit's work as one of her picture's background. Napkit did not give her the permission and no credit was given.

I was shocked because I was watching 2 artists, and the infringer draws pretty nice pictures and had already been popular enough to go to the DA frontpage. I also shocked to know some comments telling her the problem in a polite way got ignored or hidden.

Napkit and I reported the problem to DA. However, to our surprise, my report had never been replied and Napkit's report had been even rejected. I'm a emotional guy. I decided to write a journal about it.

Please do NOT
1. Use a copyrighted artwork to make derivative work without permission.
2. Use an artwork licensed under Creative Commons 3.0 by-nc-nd [link] to make derivative work.
3. Give no credit to the original artist while using their works.
4. Ignore or hide comments that point out the problem politely.
5. Edit afterward after being caught before apologize.
6. Keep an infringing artwork in the gallery unless being caught, while another piece has been already discovered and apology is posted.
7. Withdraw an apology afterward.
8. Play as nothing had ever happened after removed everything.

After I posted the journal, it caused unexpected flame on her homepage, which made me feel uncomfortable. She was wrong but we all make mistakes and feel weak. I think it's good at least if she learned her lesson. Please don't destroy her life and give her a chance.

I'm a emotional guy, I posted the journal because I was really upset. I did what I thought was right, but I realized later that I had caused unnecessary flame in the community. I played a role that I was not authorized to. I'm responsible for the making many people feel bad. I'm very sorry! I've done a horrible thing!

I also posted a journal to tell the removal of the apology (deleted immediately after posting) when I came to know what's going on. I'm very sorry too. As a Wikipedian it was a shame to forget the principle of "Assume good faith" [link] ! I must thank the people who reminded me of this.

There are things that cannot be changed in a good way by violence. We are in the same community, like a family. Maybe things can be better with more tolerance.

It has been a while since the last time I updated my gallery (again). But this time it's not because of I'm busy, it's because I found myself too shallow.

I has always wanted to tell a story more than showing robotic rabbits hopping around and shoot each other with their big guns (lol), but obviously I'm not capable to do so, yet. All I know about this world is nothing but the least of its skin, how on earth can I make up an interesting idea with just that poor little bit of knowledge in my mind? So I decided to do some reading and study on the basics that I happened to ignored before.

A long list of books to cover, all heavy, theory and textbooks. I know it sounds like asking for trouble for myself, but still I'm sure it's going to benefit. Wish me luck XD.

I have been working on SYNC these days too. I don't want things to be so fragile and unorganized as before, so I decided to finish its framework first (which you are not going to know, lol). The webcomic will only be made when the framework is ready. Though I'll try uploading some character sheets before webcomic is released.

Yesterday I have cleaned up my gallery. What a mess! What was I doing in these two years? XD So I added and deleted folders, placing artworks into where they belongs. With a fresh and clearer structure. I guess it is much easier to find your target in my gallery now. There are still works to do, but I would rather deal with them later.

In 2011 I will focus on SYNC [link] , there will be a lot of new works coming. As you may have already seen, SYNC has a dedicated gallery folder for sketches. [link] As I'm may not be quick enough to color everything, sketches will be updated quite frequently, some of them will be submit as scraps, so please watch my scraps gallery too if you are interested in.

It was difficult for me to access twitter last year thanks to the infamous whatever it is I don't want to mention. Fortunately I think I've found a stable solution now. So, along with a more active gallery, I will be also more talkative on twitter too!

I've been relying on Wikipedia [link] as a quick reference source, and I finally started to {{{1}}} and [[2]] a week ago. I work to translate articles and templates among English, Japanese and Chinese(main), and correct categories and interwiki links. And of course, provide pictures. If you happen to be a Wikian, we may be editing the same article! If you are not a Wikian, I hope someday our path would cross there.

The cultture of Wikipedia had greatly inspired me on my SYNC project, now I think I've got what I'm going to tell in the story.

My family never had a birthday party for me, because a monk told them if they celebrates my birthday before I grow up, it's going to be some bad things happen to me. As a result, nobody except my mother can remember my birthday and I don't really care about my birthday myself.

Now look at the DA community here ^^. It's the first time in my life to get "happy birthday" from multiple person! And there are so many! I don't know how to thank you everyone! I really should try hard to draw more and pictures! ^^

I'm going to my new work place in days, hopefully there will be less working hours (my previous job was like 7days x 12hrs all year without bonus -..-)

My life had been a little out of control in June and July. Many things happened but mostly not good things, and I didn't have time to draw or to reply comments or notes. I'm very sorry about that.

Now things seems to return to normal little by little. I think I should really start to draw something ^^b. The GIMP tutorial will be postponed to GIMP 2.8's release, because I realize that if I made one for 2.6 now, it will be useless 4 months later, which is a shame.

June and early July is the busy season of my college, so I don't have much time to draw things, but there are sketches, hope you don't mind. I realized that I didn't have enough sexy female characters in SYNC, so I added some this time. (Not including that man wearing apron XD)

I think I should upload some of them so you know that SYNC and A3 is still running and I'm not that lazy XD. I actually have many interesting ideas but I just don't have time to draw them all. I'm going to release more and more sketches from now on, so you may consider to watch my scrap section and twitter [link] too.

As for characters of SYNC, some of them had been given a new family name in these pictures.

The VI design of the 2010 London Olympic has always been full of surprises. But I didn't see this coming, as they made a pair of metallic Cyclops [link] as their mascots.

Why not Corgis, Collies or red squirrels? I'm serious. XD

So sorry for having disappeared for more than a month. It was a quite a hard time for me because there had been unexpected situation everyday:

A sudden super heavy rain flooded my office in the college. I brought my own PC to workplace and it got flooded too. Lucky enough, my mainboard was microATX which is a little too short for the water to reach its guts. But all my colleges' computer got their ass kicked. I'm the only geek in my office, so I had to help them to fix everything from scrap.

One of my relatives got a tumor in his brainstem. He is a good man, his boss likes him and he was just married and had a little baby.

Attacked by food poison. Threw my stomach up and had stayed awake for a day because of the severe stomachache.

Unexpected heavy workload. 12-16 hours work hour with no bonus. Endless meaningless meetings to prevent you from working. And your boss told you to be grateful because they provided you a job. Your stupid father was also bugging for things that he can do himself.

I'm so glad I'm still alive. BTW, KICK-ASS was awesome.
