Hey Tyson? I am a big fan of your work and i just want to say keep up the good work! I know you're very dissapointed that Libbie did not made it and by the time i posted this comment, you might have gotten over it and moved on. But, i want to say one thing, you had my full support! I know that it can be a blow to have your designs rejected, but you gotta strive on. This may seem glomy, but a lot of famous artists started out as rejects. Often more than they could count, their works are overlooked only to become famous later on. Who knows? Maybe Libbie will become the new chinese mascot for the olympics (don't laugh! It is possible.) I'm really not sure whether my comment could reach u or even whether you would check on it. But if you read this, i just wanted to say this from the bottom of my heart. You are  my newfound idol. Believe it or not, your anthro furry android creations as well as overall art's style are actually what i have been looking for ever since i was a little child. No, seriously! i waited sooo long for someone to create something like what you created for years. You had no idea how excited i was chancing upon your work via freedom planet fanart. I literally screamed like a little girl (i don't like to show emotions, i'm very reserved). i'm actually clueless on how deviantart operates (i'm not even an artist!). This is unfortunately the only way for me to thank you, so I'm really excited to wait for your comment and if possible, meet you in person one day! (Wanna see what you actually look like)

Okay I'm gonna just say real quick that it's a total shame that Libreoffice took your amazing hard work and just threw it away like trash in favor for other trash. They didn't even try to at least work with you with an agreeable design. They're incompetent, not you. It's not your fault whatsoever that they left you behind. That's their loss, and they also lost a potential customer (me) because of it.

Tyson you are insanely talented. Every single one of your pictures is a masterpiece. I'm not saying that to cheer you up or anything, I fuckin' mean it. It's a match made in heaven that you get to be involved with the Freedom Planet 2 project, which is also gonna be a masterpiece. Libbie is a great character design (as well as many other designs you have created) and the fact that you worked so hard and put so much effort into every single version of her it shows your attention to detail, your skill and raw talent, and your genuine passion for art/designing that honestly is hard to find.

tldr; you're an amazing artist and I cannot wait to see your next artwork!

Okay, that's certainly an excessive way to phrase it, but the fact that your design was tossed aside due to circumstance is a shame. There is some genuine creativity and quality design work on display here.

There are two types of people in this world: people who think Libbie is precious (if maybe a little pointy), and people who are wrong.

This is astounding.  Really really well done!  This mascot has so much personality to it, while kinda blending in to the modern flat UI design.  Fantastic work!

looking at the final 12, I can see why you would be disappointed that yours didn't get through.. some of them are actually quite horrific.. three of them look like they have been ripped off, and only four of them look like they would be viable professional grade mascots. but it looks like these are going to be adjusted by the companies own design team anyway. it's probably better that your's didn't make it :\ but that's community selection for you.

It looks like they were trying to even the grounds for contestants and make sure that the community selection process wouldn't be overwhelmed by the multitude of images relating to each mascot. They would have likely showcased the image that they felt most represented the collection. Sure they possibly could have done it differently, but every entry would have been limited to the same restriction (and there were possibly people who only submitted one image)

According to the blog post "The response was overwhelming; we got a great number of submissions" so the fact that yours was showcased among the final 63 images means that your work was certainly not overlooked or dismissed by them.

They stated from the get go that "Results will be filtered by a commission named by the Board of Directors (BoD), and voted by the community" and the new contest rules added later were only their explanation of how they were filtering out unsuitable submissions of which your design was not seeing as it made it through to the community selection.

Don't be so hard on yourself, or them! These things happen, and the fact that your's made it through to the community selection means that the effort of creating those 40 images was seen by the "commission named by the Board of Directors (BoD)" and short listed.

If anything the research and effort that you put into this is a learning experience and If you were interested in moving towards mascot creation, character design or commercial branding, this would be a great folio piece.

You have plenty of supporters here, and your efforts did not go un-noticed. you were just unfortunate that the design did not make it through the community vetting.

Unfortunately the selection process was not transparent, so you don't really know what the companies thoughts were specifically on your design.. But there is no reason why you can't reach out and contact them for feed back they may have been gunning for your design, but had to keep to their word about the community selection process.

Oh man, this design is incredible! I hope you are ok, because the LibreOffice team? Brainless to not even consider such a hard-worked well design character. I believe in Libbie's potential.

This is a shame; I personally thought your design was the best one submitted to the contest, especially given your prior work on the Freedom Planet series, which I love, and especially given all your other artwork in your gallery, which I also love. I wish you the best of luck in everything you draw from now on, as you're an absolutely fantastic artist!

Cannot believe the survey treated your mascot design like crap. She is honestly such a cute design and I love the detailing and usage of shapes to convey this character.

In the library of my university I just found a book called "furries furever" and I found you there ;D

It somehow looks simple and complex at the same time. 

Seeing the other entries, their example, and their own awful voting site,  I was kinda worried something... unprofessional... would happen.

It's too bad. What's left is all very bland.

I don't know if it's any consolation that Libre is now covered in angry nerds, courtesy Libbie? Because that seems to be a thing now

Dude, you got robbed. This definitely SHOULD have won the contest.

I cropped and/or recolored some of these and converted them to .ico so that they can be used as program icons.

I like how it represent both polygons and something that could be folded out of colored paper, which makes it pretty clear that this is an office suite mascot. Also amazing solution to B&W issue

What a fun little character! Such a shame you didn’t win. Nevertheless, I hope you manage to repurpose her for something. Also side note, her hair reminds me of Lusamine’s from Pokémon Sun and Moon.

It's very disappointing she didn't even make it into the finals. She had so much potential with such a sophisticated design and all the details.
She would have been a strong brand identity were it not for the passionate weeb-haters out there, I suspect.
On the bright side, LibreOffice is FOSS so we can just go ahead and make our own icons, splash screens and what-not and just rebrand it for ourselves.

Anyway, kudos for releasing Libbie as a download under CC0 license - this is a generous gift to the community. Thank you for sharing your hard work, much appreciated!

Edit: Shall we do some petition, or appeal to their resolution? I just CAN'T agree with that pick! Ghh..
However, I believe that we can make a change as LibbreOffice is a community-driver project, and we all have a right to say no to whatever is brought up, which we don't agree with.
Though.. that.. is disgusting whoever made a decision to trash Libbie.
